Arrival
Upon admission to the Graduate School of Computer Science, you will receive a written notification about the place offered to you with which you can initiate your VISA process or general arrival preparations.
Saarbrücken is close to Frankfurt International Airport and easily accessible by train. After you matriculate at Saarbrücken University and get your student ID card, you will be eligible for free transportation in and around Saarbrücken and all of Saarland.
The Graduate School will assist you in getting your health insurance once you are here since this depends on having student status after enrollment at the university. We will also assign each newcomer a student buddy to help you with finding accommodation and with bureaucratic errands.
The VISA is usually issued on a provisional basis and you will need to register at the town hall as a resident and with the Foreigner’s Office to be granted a full student VISA for your time at the Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science.
With your VISA and letter of acceptance you can open a bank account in Germany.
